New Enclosures, New Beginnings
The center is growing and taking shape, and it is all thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters. Over the South African winter, our dedicated team worked tirelessly to build five brand-new enclosures at the Education and Rehabilitation Center.
Today, three of them are already home to animals in urgent need of care: a large male vervet monkey formerly kept as a pet and now too habituated to be safely released, a wild male vervet rescued with a severe back wound that required veterinary surgery, and three vervets born and raised in captivity with significant health issues caused by inbreeding. The remaining two enclosures stand ready for the next rescues who will cross our gates… because sadly, we know more will come.
Expanding Our Rehabilitation Area
Behind the center, new enclosures are already in the making to house wildlife undergoing rehabilitation away from public disturbance.
As more animals arrive (injured, orphaned, or confiscated) we must expand quickly to give each one the safe space they deserve.
Our growing baby servals will soon need an outdoor area to develop their hunting skills, and our little meerkat, who currently shares a pen with a rabbit for companionship, urgently needs a larger habitat until he can form a mob of his own. Each structure built is a lifeline, a promise of safety and dignity; and it exists only because of your support.
A Vital Need: Reliable Transport for Rescues
Thanks to a generous sponsor, we were able to acquire a second-hand car, giving us the ability to respond to rescues, collect food, and navigate between the reserve and the nearby town. While we are deeply grateful, the vehicle is only a temporary solution. To reach animals swiftly (often in remote or difficult terrain) we urgently need a dependable bakkie or a newer rescue vehicle. Every kilometer travelled spreads awareness of our work and allows us to save lives. We heavily rely on donations, and your help can put us one step closer to the transport we need to continue our mission.
